There are many published Black Lists of sites that are known to install Spyware
/ Malware / Trojans on your computer. Software
Blueprint IT Consulting provides
www.BlackholeDNS.com as a clean simple solution to this problem.
DNS ( Domain Name Service ) is the Internet service that translates
domain names (i.e. www.yahoo.com )
to IP addresses.
Set your computers DNS Settings to point to our DNS server and your computer
will be redirected to www.BlackholeDNS.com
if you inadvertantly try to go to a known Spyware / Malware / Trojan site.
For example if you try to go to http://spywarecleaner.org which
is actually known to install spyware our DNS server will return our IP
address ( 72.34.227.218 ) instead of the real IP address (
69.50.161.5 ). So you will go to our web site instead and you will see
the following screen.
To use this free simple service is simple.
Step 1
First go to a command prompt ( Start / All Programs /Accessories / Command
Prompt ) and type
ipconfig /all
Note the DNS Server address. In this case it is 192.168.16.1.
Step 2
Then go to the properties for your network connection ( Start / Control Panel /
Network Connection ) and then right click your network connection and
select Properties. Then in the properties for Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
change your settings as shown below.
The Prefered DNS Server is our DNS Server. Set this to 72.34.227.218
The Alternate DNS Server is your previous DNS server (obtained in Step 1
above) which probably either points to a router / firewall or your
ISP. In my case it was 192.168.16.1 You should enter whatever
you obtained in Step 1.
That's it. Click OK until all the dialog boxes are dismissed.
